Today's IT professional can choose from a vast array of gadgets. Most of these handy tools boost efficiency, cut costs or simplify complex business processes that dramatically increase productivity.
These are the kind of gadgets we'll completely ignore. Instead, we'll take a good look at the best tools for having fun and wasting time.
This year we're putting the spotlight on a slew of interesting products, such as a new PDA/game console combo by Tapwave Zodiac that seems to do a nice job of balancing the dual roles. Another game console playing double-duty is the Nokia N-Gage QD, a slimmed down version of its predecessor that tries to straddle the world of gaming and mobile telephony.
Speaking of new generations, we also took the new versions of iPod and iPod mini for a spin to see if the steep price tags were worth it. Another option for the style-conscious music enthusiast is the BMW-branded MP3 watch. Last but not least, we tried The Sims 2, the sequel to one of the most popular computer games ever developed. Will this one make it onto the cover of Newsweek, too? Time (not the magazine) will tell. Until then, enjoy, and happy holiday shopping!
