More Than Content Management
But with more content offerings comes more data to manage. According to estimates, companies' content data (in files, images, audio and video) is increasing at about 30% a year. To create online content more efficiently as volume grows, media companies are automating their processes with content management tools.
At Rockville, Md.-based Access Intelligence LLC, a $60-million business-to-business publisher of magazines and newsletters, CIO Rob Paciorek wanted to automate the process of transforming print files into Web-ready formats and to improve workflow along the way. Until last year, getting content online required "many kludgy steps," Paciorek says. Production editors would cut and paste text from publishing programs like InCopy into Word and send them to IT, which would run the text through macros to generate HTML for Web posting and text formatted for syndication. Different electronic destinations required different transformations and several manual steps.
