QUESTION POSED ON: 15 October 2004 I have been working as a software tester for the past seven years. Right now the market has gone towards automation, and I'm finding it difficult to find positions in manual testing. Could you suggest any certifications that will help me in securing positions in this market?

EXPERT RESPONSE
Given that you already understand the testing side of software development, jobs in development or software QA seem like logical steps that aren't too far away from your current knowledgebase and expertise. You don't indicate which languages or environments you know and use, so it's difficult for me to say more, but if you're familiar with the Microsoft .NET framework, Visual Studio and so forth, the MCAD and MCSD would be pretty logical certifications to pursue. YMMV depending on where your expertise lies.
